Lonyo Engele aka DJ Lonyo first hit the entertainment scene in 1998 as an MC host for various artist’s tour parties such as the Grammy award winning and worldwide acclaimed artist Janet Jackson along with Jamiroquai and The Fugees.
In 1999 Lonyo formed Bon Garcon of whom which released No.1 UK RnB track “If you need a man” , which appeared on Trevor Nelson’s Urban Soul album. Later that year ,Lonyo also featured as the lead vocalist on the first ever Two Step track by artist DEM2 on the track “Destiny”. In 2000 Lonyo was signed as a solo artist to Riverhorse Records which was an offcut label of the SONY MUSIC GROUP. He had his first success with his debut single the massive “Summer Of Love” which was widely acclaimed as the summer anthem, and reached No. 6 in the UK Top Ten chart.The following year Lonyo released “Garage Girls” which was No.1 in the dance charts for 3 weeks. At this point Lonyo began incorporating a DJing set in his live shows.
